Several Pakistani naval vessels, including a warship and a submarine, docked at the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas on Saturday, the IRNA news agency said, citing an Iranian Navy statement.
"The most important activity of the Pakistani fleet during its stay in Bandar Abbas is to launch joint manoeuvres with selected units of Iran's Navy in eastern waters of the Hormuz Strait," Iranian Rear Admiral Shahram Irani told IRNA.
Iran's state news agency said the joint naval exercises were aimed at promoting military cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad but gave no details of the plans.
More than a third of the world's sea borne oil exports pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow corridor between Iran and Oman. Western navies, led by the United States, patrol the region to ensure their safe passage.
A crude oil tanker was shot at last week as it sailed through the Strait of Hormuz, although such incidents are rare.

In the war of 71 both countries helped us .Iranian,s war ships stationed in Karachi actually fired at the attacking Indian air crafts The fire at Kamary which was visible from 50 miles was extinguished by train, sent from Tehran. The gunships from Suaid Arabia were also used. I am eyewitness to the both events
Good going Pakistan Navy, Iran has never been our enemy. We should cooporate more and build up good military ties with everyone. Saudi and Iran should be both same to us..
The message is simple ...to cool down Iran
ET is killing freedom of speech, by blocking many of my reasonable views. Worst form of censorship, you will have one less sympathizer when the govt block what you are saying with foreign money
@unbelievable: Pakistan is just trying to make money from both sides as always
The only country that threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz is Iran ... having joint naval operations in that Strait is going to offend Saudi Arabia as well as every customer who buys oil from countries that use that strategic strait. Not sure what message your trying to send but it's likely going to reinforce the view that Pakistan is a duplicitous country who often ends up on the wrong side of important issues.
Gone are the days when Pakistan and Iran's military powers were seen as one unit against India. Thanks to Pakistan's failed internal and external policies.
Holding joint naval exercises with a country that tried to close the Hormuz Strait is foolish ... going to further tarnish your international image.
have we received (the) 1.5billion yet or not?
