KARACHI: The All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industries, Karachi chapter, president Mehmood Hamid has demanded the repair and maintenance of the Liaquatabad No. 10 road, saying that the poor road conditions also result in street crimes. He claimed that due to the poor condition of the road and the sewerage problem, shopkeepers of the Furniture Market, the Trunk Market and the Al-Karam Square Market are suffering. He added that the condition has deteriorated to the point that accidents occur daily. The lack of a proper drainage system is also responsible for damage to the roads. The poor condition of the road has increased crime as robbers are able to commit robberies during the resulting traffic jams, claimed Hamid. He also complained about obsolete water pipelines, saying that the relevant authorities are not serious about solving the issues. Despite their repeated complaints, the officials have not bothered to repair the leakages, he said. He threatened that if their issue was not solved within two days, the traders will protest and block the road.
