Water woes: ‘Rs60m spent on desilting canals’

Minister for Population Welfare says Sindh govt starts desilting process at cost of Rs60 million.

UMERKOT: Minister for Population Welfare Syed Haji Mardan Shah has said that the Sindh government has started the desilting process of Umerkot, Farash Mori and Khipro Canal sub-divisions at a cost of Rs60 million. He was speaking at a ceremony of Farash Regulator on Friday. The big canals are prioritised for desilting over medium and small canals for the benefit of the community living near the canals, he said. Desilting will be carried out at small and other canals also, he said, adding that regulators and bridges will also be constructed.
