KARACHI: England romped to their third Women’s World Twenty20 final after defeating South Africa by nine wickets in the semi-final, played at Dhaka.

Set in to bat first, South Africa were terrible in running between the wickets as they were nowhere near a respectable total; posting only 101 in 19.5 overs. The only worthwhile contribution came from Chloe Tryon, who scored 40 off 37 balls with two sixes and three strikes to the fence.

A strong bowling performance from Anya Shrubsole and Rebecca Grundy, who picked two wickets apiece, restricted the Proteas to a meager total.

The dreadful running between the wickets caused five run-outs for South Africa, who looked nervy with the technical aspects of the game.

In reply, Sarah Taylor and Charlotte Edwards scored 44 off 45 and 36 off 40 respectively to guide England to an easy victory as they lost Edwards’ wicket. Heather Knight and Taylor cruised to 102 in 16.5 overs to put England in the World Twenty20 final.

They will now meet rivals Australia, who will be looking for their third consecutive world title after defeating West Indies by eight runs on Thursday.
