The Judicial Tribunal tasked to investigate the discovery of 17 dead bodies from mass graves in Tutak area is expected to produce its findings within a month.
The tribunal, headed by Balochistan High Court Judge Justice Noor Mohammed Meskanzai, sought eight more weeks on February 28 as it wanted to record the statements. “The extension of eight weeks will help the tribunal to record the statements of maximum number of people,” Home Secretary Balochistan Asad Gilani told The Express Tribune.
Spokesperson of Balochistan government Jan Mohammed Buleidai said government will trace the culprits responsible for this brutality. “High Court judge is investigating this case and we hope that responsible will be brought to justice.”
However, the DNA tests of 13 dead bodies are yet to be submitted to the tribunal. Officials have only identified one body as Naseer Ahmed through a piece of paper recovered from the body. All the bodies were decomposed beyond recognition. Home Department says identities will only be determined after the DNA tests which will take time.
