RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police on Thursday foiled a sabotage bid by seizing a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a vehicle in the Naseerabad area and arrested the suspect. On a tip off, a police team barricaded the Grand Trunk Road near Chowki Hameeda and signaled for a white car to stop, but the driver sped up to escape. The police team, however, chased him and intercepted him near Golra Mor. While searching the vehicle, the police recovered seven AK-47s, 15 pistols, nine unidentified guns, and 13,000 rounds, which were being smuggled to Rawalpindi. This is the third large arms cache boud for Rawalpindi that the police have seized in the last two weeks. The suspect, Mehrab Gul, was shifted to the police station for further interrogation, said police spokesperson Raja Fiaz.
