LAHORE:

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association Punjab Chairman S M Tanveer has said that the body has no intention to protest and go on a strike and is highly indebted to the present government for the assistance it has provided to the industry in the last nine months.

Addressing a press conference, he said the industry is currently passing through difficult times, particularly units in Punjab.

He said the energy and power issues were resolved earlier due to intervention by the Punjab chief minister. He hoped that the new issues surfacing would be resolved in the interest of the country.

“The Punjab industry is facing discrimination in supply of energy and power,” he said, adding that gas is available to all other industries in other provinces except for Punjab. “This makes it much cheaper for them to produce power at Rs7 per unit.”
