PESHAWAR:

The main gate of a house was destroyed in a low-intensity bomb blast in Majeed Town in the jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station late Tuesday night.

Police said the house of Nasarullah, a trader and a resident of Mohmand Agency, was targeted in the blast.

“The main gate of the house was damaged in the blast, the sound of which caused panic among residents,” said an official of the police station while talking to The Express Tribune.

He said that Nasarullah had been constantly receiving threats from unidentified people as he was refusing their demands to pay extortion sums.

Separately, police believe a man has been kidnapped from Dabgari Gardens as officials found his car abandoned by the roadside. He is a resident of Surizai, Badhaber.

“There is no FIR in the case but family members told us they received a phone call demanding a ransom of $1.2 million since the man owns a company,” said an official of the East Cantt police station.
