“More than 50,000 students in the country are benefitting from the government’s endowment fund scholarships,” Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said on Wednesday.

He was addressing a prize distribution ceremony at a private school.

He said scholarships worth Rs12 billion were being given to students for studies.

He said schools played a pivotal role in providing quality education.

Rehman said private schools had helped enhance the literacy rate of the country.


Rehman said Rs7.5 billion had been given to the Punjab Education Foundation for deserving students in private schools in remote areas and less developed districts.
