Consumers in Sindh prefer cheaper handsets, better call rates and free minutes while selecting network prices, according to Hassan Jawad Soomro, who presented his research at a seminar at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, on Tuesday.


The PhD candidate said that gender plays a significant part in the purchase of mobile brand and services.

The people of Sindh favour new technical properties such as, large memory space, more battery life, and better colour displays along with the internet.

With the advent of mobile services in 1990, the country now has five mobile phone networks. The mobile market developed a lot since 2000 and reached a subscriber base of 122 million in 2012, making Pakistan one of the highest number of mobile phone users in the world. He said that after the advancement in technology and network services and a decrease in prices, the number of mobile phone users has increased.
