Drawdown: Over two dozen NATO containers enter Pakistan

This is the first time such a large number of containers have crossed the Afghan border since PTI ended its sit-in.

At least 33 containers loaded with supplies of Nato troops stationed in Afghanistan reached the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham on Tuesday for clearance to go on to Karachi.

Political administration official Ali Raza said the containers reached Torkham border early morning and were parked at the Nato terminal for clearance. He added that the clearance process started in the afternoon, but will take some time.

The official said this is the first time such a large number of containers have crossed the Afghan border since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ended its sit-in over the Nato blockade on February 27. However, the sit-in had not completely halted cross-border movement of Nato vehicles. Some continued to make their way from Afghanistan via Khyber Agency.
