The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Department has approved a plan to introduce physiotherapy and rehabilitation services at 25 district headquarters (DHQ) hospitals in the province.
A high level meeting was held in this regard at the health department on Tuesday under the chair of Health Secretary Ghulam Qadir Khan. During the moot, it was decided that the 25 hospitals will be provided equipment and human resources to strengthen rehabilitation services.
The aim of this initiative is to address the needs of those suffering from physical disabilities.

Provincial Coordinator for Rehabilitation of Physically Disabled Persons Dr Mahboobur Rahman presented the project cycle report which was approved by the participants. Dr Rahman said the government was committed to facilitate physically disabled people and provide facilities at their doorsteps as a first step.
The doctor shared that people with aching joints, children affected by polio, children with special needs and women with disabilities would benefit from the government’s move.
“We are aware of the special needs of these people and every possible step will be taken by authorities in the health, planning and development and finance departments. We hope the project will prove to be a useful service for our community,” said Dr Rahman.
