Women’s hockey: WAPDA, Army enter semi-finals

Defending champions Wapda and Army cruised into the semi-finals of the National Women’s Hockey Championship after winning their respective matches yesterday at the Hockey Club of Pakistan, in Karachi.


Wapda qualified for the last-four stage after mauling Sindh Colour by a margin of 11-0, courtesy a hat-trick by Ayesha Bashir. Nazia Rehmat and Kulsoom also displayed commendable performance with two goals apiece.


Meanwhile, Army confirmed their semi-finals berth after handing a 16-0 drubbing to Sindh White.


  In the third match of the day, Punjab Colour secured winning points after overcoming Higher Education Commission by 1-0. Mariam Mansha’s goal proved to be the decisive strike.
