ISLAMABAD:

An accountability court on Friday issued bailable arrest warrants for an official of a petroleum company for failing to appear in court in the Rs77-billion Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) reference.

The court issued bailable arrest warrants for Dewan Ziaur Rehman Farooqi, chief executive officer (CEO), Dewan Petroleum Company for consistently defying the court’s order and directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce him on April 9.

The court had earlier summoned him twice after NAB submitted the reference against him and Tauqeer Sadiq, the main accused.

The NAB has also filed references against former Ogra members, Mansoor Muzaffar Ali and Mir Kamal Mari, finance officer Jawad Jameel, former Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) managing director Abdur Rashid Lone and former Ogra staffers including Zohair Siddique, Azeem Iqbal Siddique, Arsalan Iqbal, Mirza Mehmood Ahmed and Yousaf Ansari.

Former prime ministers — Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf — are also accused in the case.

Sadiq was released last week after Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted his bail application.

A senior court official told The Express Tribune that all the accused except Farooqi appeared in the court.

The court will frame charges against the accused after Farooqi turns up in the court, the official said.
