KARACHI: A day after drubbing Sindh Whites 25-0, Railways claimed another resounding victory at the National Women Hockey Championship, thrashing Balochistan 14-0 at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Friday.

The winners took control of the game right from the beginning and repeatedly attacked Balochistan’s crumbling defense.

The duo of Hina Kanwal and Nimra Abdul Khaliq, who had scored six goals each against Sindh Whites, excelled once again, striking four goals apiece. However, Shukria Rasheed was the player of the match with five goals.

In another encounter, defending champions Wapda sailed past Punjab C 3-1 to record another win in the tournament.

Nazia Rehmat was the standout performer with a brace of goals, while Amna Meer was the other scorer for the victors. Punjab C claimed a consolation through Sidra Ayub’s 48th minute strike.

Meanwhile, departmental side Higher Education Commission defeated regional team Sindh Whites 2-0.

Bushra Nazia netted the first goal while Asma Ashraf sealed the victory by scoring in 46th minute.

The tournament will resume on Sunday after a one-day break.
