Identified as Faisal Imran Masih, the man in his 60s had been kidnapped by unknown men on Friday evening from Akora Khattak area of Nowshera. Inspector Nihar Ali of the Nowshera Kalan police said his body was found dumped in Wathar area of Nowshera on Monday evening.
Inspector Ali added that Dr Shakeel Masih, Imran's son, had filed a report about his missing father in Akora Khattak on Friday evening. According to Shakeel's report, after closing his clinic in Akora Khattak Bazaar four armed assailants travelling in a car had approached Imran and then allegedly kidnapped him.
The inspector said that on Monday evening residents of Wathar informed the police about a body lying at the base of the mountain. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the police station for identification where Dr Shakeel identified him as his father.
An official said that the man had been shot multiple times and the body had been shifted to DHQ Nowshera for an autopsy.
Dr Shakeel later told journalists that after his father was allegedly kidnapped he had rushed to Akora Khattak police station to file a report with the police. However, he claimed that police officials did not immediately register an FIR, instead promised they would try and recover his father.
Later, a murder case was filed at Nowshera Kalan police station and further investigations were launched.
