Remembering Khushwant Singh

Letter March 24, 2014
He has been a teacher for thousands of his admirers with his bold views on religious bigotry and discrimination.

HYDERABAD: It is hard to write an obituary of a person who will never die for lots of his admirers across the world. Khushwant Singh respected his Pakistani roots since he was born in Hadali in the country’s Sargodha district and according to his highly acclaimed autobiography, Truth, Love and a Little Malice, visited it while shedding tears years after Partition. His persona was larger than life. He has been a teacher for thousands of his admirers with his bold views on religious bigotry and discrimination.

Khushwant Singh, over the years, wrote on all sorts of taboo topics and with his perseverance and exuberance, tried to expose the cruel traditions practised by humankind, especially in the subcontinent.
