The bus, which was carrying 20 passengers from the hill town of Murree to Rawalpindi, lost traction on a slippery road amid rainfall, rolling on its side as it fell down a slope.
"At least 10 people have been killed in the accident. Two of them are women and two children. Eight others are injured," Mudassar Hussain, duty officer at Murree police station, told AFP.
"Rescue workers are working to recover bodies and injured at the accident site," he added.
Bus accidents are common on the mountainous track to Murree because of careless driving and speeding.
Pakistan has one of the world's worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
On Saturday, a collision on Quetta-Karachi highway between two passenger buses and a petrol tanker killed 35 people, with many of the victims burning to death.

@Jahangir Chauhan: You are right but the human nature is that it would always blame conditions and other factors. In this news too, it is stated that the bus lost traction on a slippery road amid rainfall, rolling on its side as it fell down a slope, which rests blame on bus, tires, road, rainfall and slope.
very sad incident.Ca't they wait till roads gets a little less wet while travelling on such mountanous tracks like Muree, Nathia Gali etc.to avoid such accidents and also avoid speeding and better condition of roads. Police should not allow such vehicles on roads who'es condition are not good enough to run on such area in such weather condition.
The need of hour for the authorities is to seek consultants for identifying the areas whether it is for the kind of roads construction, training of Commercial vehicle drivers or even for the implementation of the regulations and rules and so on, if we want to prevent or minimise such tragedies, I guess there is no other better way.
It doesn't call "KILLED" it is called "DIED". Plz don't make everything more panic?
This is just utterly sad. Its high time that these irresponsible private transporters be banned and both inter and intra city routes be sold to quality companies so continuing loss of these precious lives be curtailed.
Inna Lila he wa inaa ilahe raji unnn!
All three major reasons for fatal accidents in the country are very serious. The government should take immediate steps to address this issue. Innocent lives are being lost just because of negligence of the authorities.
