England team UK 2 dominated the Pakistan Day International Bridge Championship 2014 on the second day while local favourites Miran finished second and Barny Army, another England team, held the third spot at the end of five rounds in the competition.
The championship is featuring two teams from the UK, two teams from China and players from Turkey, Jordan and the UAE in the competition. Overall, 36 teams are competing for the top spot.
Jason Hacket, Justin Hacket, Mike Bell and Alex Hydes of UK 2 outplayed Saya 42-1 and their compatriots Barny Army defeated Data Steel 36-24 in round one.
Meanwhile, Sindh Bilal lost their second-round match to Aces 49-22, while UK 2 defeated China 2 42-20. Jordan team Zara defeated Hai 45-24 and Turkey outclassed B-Team 76-10 in the second round. Zara further improved their rankings as they defeated Aces 45-9 in the fifth round.
Teams Talpur, Sindh Bilal, Miran, UK 2 and Barny Army remained among the top competitors throughout the day.
At the end of the day, UK 2 scored 76.26 points in the competition, Miran stood second with 68.93, Barney Army collected 67.96 and Zara followed on the fourth place with 66.80 points. Sindh Bilal finished the day on the fifth place with 65.54 points.
“The current local favourites teams are Miran, Talpur and Sindh Bilal and we hope they will make Pakistan proud at the conclusion of the event,” organiser Syed Ameer Hasan told The Express Tribune.
