If appointed by the President of Pakistan, Abbasi, the opposition leader in K-P Assembly, will replace Engineer Shaukatullah Khan as the new Governor of K-P.
Earlier, it seemed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Central Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was in the lead for the race for K-P’s governorship, while Major (retd) Amir, part of the four-member committee government formed to negotiate with the Taliban, was also in the running.
However, it emerged on Friday that Abbasi's name is most likely to be recommended to the President by the Prime Minister.

Mr Abbasi, is really very talanted and great person in political field most of the activities perform by PM is generated idea of mr. Although mr.abbasi did't perform for betterment in his area NA-17 but people have deep love for him. and have some hope for change in area.
Correction: Sardar Mahtab khan Abbasi speaks fluent Pashto
I don't understand why some people are saying this will be a good decision? One he is an opposition minister, that's sure to create some tensions. Two, he was not a very popular CM either, his bias and rhetoric pleased no one and his administration was very complacent in carrying out its duties. Three, the Governor of KPK deals with FATA policy; Mr. Abassi is neither Pakhtoon nor can he speak Pakhto. This is a key time in the history of FATA and one can't afford to make mistakes like this. If the PML-N want their own man, who better than Iqbal Jhagra. He is well connected and known to all the power players and influentials in the province and FATA. He is well liked and even though he is yet to win an election, he has been with the PML-N through and through from the start. The Saifullah family aren't on good terms with many influentials on the account that all the brothers are leaders in different parties.
The best choice was Salim Saifullah Khan. He is competent and well rounded. He has a good reputation. He is also Pushtun, and his family has influence in south kph including north and south waziristan since before 1947. Nawaz making mistake.
He'll be a great success. He is honest and a very capable administrator.
Appointing an opposition leader and former CM is not the best practice. PPP did the same and PML-N doing it now. Governor and President are supposed to be neutral and represent the state/province without any political ambitions.
Most capable and deserving person...!!
