The Senate Standing Committee for Information Technology and Telecommunication on Thursday, keeping in view the report of its sub-committee, recommended to lift ban from YouTube.



The video sharing site remains blocked due to filtering issues. State Minister Information Technology Anusha Rehman said IT plays a vital role in development.


Speaking at the meeting chaired by Senator Idrees Saafi, she said the government will revive the ten years old dead project of Technology Parks which were funded by the World Bank.


Top official of the Universal Services Fund (USF) informed the committee that 1,043 educational broadband centers and 297 community broadband centers had been established in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
