The ‘freedom march’ of Sindhi nationalist party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz - Arisar (JSQM-A), culminated at Karachi Press Club on Thursday.
Fifty party activists set out on foot from Sukkur on February 23, stopping at various cities en route to Karachi. JSQM-A chairperson Abdul Wahid Arisar gave a passionate speech in front of a large crowd, speaking out against terrorism in the province and condemning religious extremism.
Arisar also condemned the federal government for monopolising Sindh’s resources and demanded that they should be handed back to the provincial government. JSQM-A leader Alam Mari also spoke on the occasion and criticised the treatment of Sindh and Balochistan.
Mari was also critical of the religious extremism that is festering in Sindh and suggested a radical solution to the problem. “All seminaries in Sindh should be shut down since certain seminary students are being taught extremism in the name of religion,” said Mari.
