
The decision was taken during the visit of King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman al Khalifa at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharafi, reads a joint statement.
According to the joint statement issued at the conclusion of King Khalifa's visit to Pakistan, the two sides acknowledged the close relations between Pakistan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and reiterated their commitment to further strengthen cooperation, including the finalisation of the Pakistan-GCC Free Trade Agreement and boosting bilateral trade.
Stressing on the importance of bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries of two countries, which would serve as an umbrella framework for bilateral cooperation, it was decided that the next round of bilateral consultations would be held in the second half of 2014.
The two sides also welcomed the setting up of a Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission.
Following agreements and MoUs were signed between Pakistan and Bahrain during the three day visit of King Khalifa to further enhance the high-level political exchanges, cooperation in the fields of economic, trade and investment, defence and security and people-to-people linkages:
- MoU on Establishment of Joint Ministerial Commission for Bilateral Cooperation.
- Agreement for the Promotion and Protection of Investments
- MoU on Cooperation between Ministries of Interior
- MoU on Cooperation in the fields of Water and Power
- MoU on Cooperation in Food Security, in Particular Rice
- Air Services Agreement
- MoU in the areas of Labour and Occupational Training
- MoU between Economic Development Board of Bahrain and Board of Investment
