Scare in Peshawar: Bomb defused outside Express News bureau chief’s house
BDS says explosive device weighed around 2kgs.
PESHAWAR:
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused a medium-intensity explosive device planted outside the house of ExpressNews Bureau Chief Jamshed Baghwan in the Murshadabad neighbourhood of the city Wednesday night.
The Banamarhi police said that the device weighed around two kilogrammes and it was planted in Ghree tin just outside the main gate of Baghwan’s house.
“The device was left by two men who were riding a bike and I called police as a precautionary measure,” Baghawan told The Express Tribune.
The police said that the BDS defused the device with the help of a water charge.
“It was a medium-intensity device which could have caused serious damage to the building – but luckily it was spotted and defused in time,” said a police official.
