Two men injured, one arrested after Rangers fire on 'runaway bikers' in Karachi

Rangers claim the third man managed to flee, but his relatives claim he has been arrested.

KARACHI: Two men received bullet injuries and one person was arrested after Rangers opened fire on them in Metroville area of SITE in Karachi late on Wednesday evening for allegedly in an alleged encounter.

Three men Saqib, Danish and Nadeem were riding a motorbike in Metrovile, Site. As they neared a Rangers picket, they were reportedly signaled to stop. When they did not stop, officers fired at them injuring two and arresting a third.

Rangers claimed that the men did not stop at the picket after being signaled to do so and had allegedly fired at the officers. Officials claimed that in the ensuing exchange of fire, two of the riders were injured.

The officers further claimed they had recovered a pistol from one of the injured men which contained six bullets.

The men were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed hospital for treatment.

Saqib’s mother told the media that they live near Sabri chowk in Orangi town and that her son works at a factory. Calling the encounter ‘fake’, she claimed that her son's fellow workers often give him ride home on their motorcycle.

The police, when contacted, said that the Rangers have handed over a man called Danish but refused to comment further on any encounter.
