Suo motu: SC proceedings on violence begin today
Bench will take up illegal allotments and encroachments on state lands.
KARACHI:
A larger bench of the Supreme Court will resume the hearing of the Karachi law and order suo motu implementation case today at its Karachi registry. Headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, the bench comprising justices Khilji Arif Hussain and Amir Hani Muslim, will take up illegal allotments and encroachments on state lands, illegal recovery of arms, issuance of new mobile SIMs through biometric verification system, illegal registration of migrants, recovery of customs duties, smuggling of arms and ammunitions and so on. The bench will also take up the suo motu case on the deaths of more than 100 children in Tharparkar. On Friday, the bench will take up other suo motu cases relating to the suicide bomb attack on Peshawar’s All Saints Church, denial of access to the Hindu community to the historic Amrapur Ashram in Tando Adam and possession of the Hindu gymkhana in Karachi. The three judges will also hear a case relating to the growing level of contamination in Manchhar Lake.
