ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday challenged the special court’s February 21 order that turned down the plea of retired army chief to be tried under Army Act. Citing registrar, special court, and secretary interior as respondents, a petition was filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC), challenging the special court’s order denying Musharraf’s plea to transfer his treason trial to a military court. The petition stated that the respondent had brushed aside the provisions of section 549 of CrPC, which says that: “Delivery to military authorities of persons liable to be tried by court martial.” IHC will take up the matter on Thursday. On March 14, the court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant of Musharraf if he fails to appear in court on March 31.
