Following the re-erection of the blown-up tower of 220-KV Allai-ISPR-Tarnol Transmission Line, Khan, Allai and Duber Khwar Hydel power stations have once again started providing 254 Megawatt (MW) of much-needed low-cost hydel electricity to the national grid.
The miscreants, in early hours of March 1, blew up the tower of the transmission line in the vicinity of Battagram in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, disrupting the power supply from the three high-head hydropower projects. It may be mentioned that it was the second incident relating to blowing up of a tower within a fortnight.
Soon after the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and National Transmission and Despatch Company undertook the restoration task of the transmission line. Despite mountainous terrain and adverse climate conditions, the officials succeeded in energising the line.
