QUETTA: Protests continued in the Baloch dominated areas of Balochistan on Friday against the murder of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) central leader Haji Attaullah Mohammadzai. The Mohammadzai who was also president of the local union of traders was gunned down in Khuzdar last Sunday. Trade and transport came to a halt on the strike call given by BNP-M. Roads were deserted and markets, banks, medical stores and restaurants remained closed for the day in Khuzdar, Chagai, Mastung, Kalat, Sibi, Naushki, Wadh, Turbat, Panjgur, and other Baloch areas of Balochistan. BNP spokesperson said the successful protest is a clear message that BNP leaders will not sit silent over these senseless killings. “Our 75 leaders and activists were killed by state-backed groups,” he said, adding that not a single murderer was brought to justice. He said BNP will continue its struggle for the rights of Baloch people.
