Drug prices: Regulatory policy’s summary being sent to PM

SHC directed the officer to apprise the court about the progress.

A summary containing drugs-pricing regulatory policy would soon be presented to the prime minister to resolve the controversy involving the drugs prices increase, the Sindh High Court (SHC) was informed on Friday.


Headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, the bench was hearing a petition filed by the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Members Association, which had challenged the order of the drug regulatory authority of Pakistan withdrawing its earlier notification that allowed hike in prices of the drugs.

Deputy attorney general, Sajjad Ilyas Bhatti, said the summary is being sent to the premier and sought time to inform the court about further progress in the matter.

Allowing the request, the bench directed the officer to apprise the court about the progress.
