ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani said on Thursday that the responsibility of defending the country primarily lies with the armed forces. The chief justice was addressing officers of PAF Air War College in the Supreme Court. “The armed forces are an important institution under the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I trust they will continue to perform their sacred duty under the mandate of law and demonstrate the spirit worthy of their calling,” he said. He also pointed out that “the two concepts of good governance and rule of law” were interrelated.  “Without a fair and effective judiciary, one can hardly imagine good governance.”
