LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition by MNA Malik Riaz against the order of the elections tribunal through which National Database Registration Authority was ordered to verify thumb impressions of voters in NA-118.

Riaz was elected to the National Assembly defeating PTI’s candidate Hamid Zaman. Now, the NADRA has been given a go-ahead for vote verification. A division bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah passed the order.

An amicus curie (friend of the court) told the court that an appeal against the order of election tribunal could not be filed before the Lahore High Court as had been ruled by a full bench of the Lahore High Court. He told the court that petitioner could challenge the order of the election tribunal only before the Supreme Court.
