A trader-cum-social worker has suggested that a law be enacted to give the highest taxpayers the right to utilise their tax money on education under their own supervision, said a press release.
Speaking at a press conference at the National Press Club on Wednesday, Jahangir Akhtar said the Federal Bureau of Revenue has assessed his monthly income at Rs2.1 million, but he does not want to pay taxes that are being utilised to bear the expenses of maintaining the lavish lifestyles of corrupt rulers.
He said that the major reason behind the current lawlessness was illiteracy among the youth, who have no other options but to join terrorist organisations, after failing to find jobs to make ends meet.
Akhtar said that the heads of public sector entities including PIA, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Steel Mills should make them profitable, and if they cannot, the government should privatise them.
