Sri Lanka has promised all out support to Afghanistan in their bid to become a cricket force.

The head of the states of the two countries advised their respective cricket boards to foster their ties in this regard, following the advice of Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan Cricket Board Dr Noor Mohammad Murad. This was announced through a media release on Sunday, and stated that the two countries have reached an agreement.

Murad said: “The agreement with Sri Lanka comes at just the right time for Afghanistan. Over this year we will be preparing for the World Cup 2015 and every bit of support is immensely important.”

He added that his board
was strongly committed to raising their performance to the next level.

“Afghans have a dogged determination developed over years of hard times. It is this that has brought us so far, against all odds, in such a short time. It will carry us onward and upward over coming years.”
