Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid said on Saturday that the government was successfully coping with the energy crisis.
Addressing a public gathering near Badiana in Pasrur, he said the government had made efforts to provide maximum relief to the people.
He said as many as 155 villages in Pasrur and Sialkot would be supplied gas. MPA Munawar Gill, Assistant Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema and Pasrur Development Committee chairman Shahzad Butt were also present on the occasion.
Later, speaking to a delegation at Badiana Press Club, he said the provincial government had released Rs155 million for the uplift of Pasrur.
Hamid said Rs90 million would be spent on shifting local fruits and vegetables markets from Pasrur to city’s outskirts. For this, he said the tehsil municipal administration had selected a suitable land along the main Pasrur-Narowal Road.
The minister said Rs65 million would be spent for affixing tough tiles on various main inter-city roads in the city, including Kuchery to Tehsil Gate Road, Nadra Chowk to Shehzada Phatak, Chowk Mohalla Khokharan to Tehsil Gate and Godowns Road. “Work on these development schemes has already started… a mini stadium will also be established to promote games and sports,” he said.
