Naval Chief lays keel: Karachi shipyard starts work on tanker
Tanker will provide logistics support to navy units at sea through transfer of dry and liquid cargoes.
KARACHI:
The building of Pakistan Navy (PN) 17,000 ton fleet tanker began at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering works on Friday with the keel laying ceremony performed by the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila. The fleet tanker is being built by KSEW in collaboration with Savurma Teknologileri Muhendislik (STM) of Turkey, said a press release. The tanker will provide logistics support to PN units at sea through transfer of dry and liquid cargoes. Admiral Sandila said the construction of this platform is a manifestation of PN commitment to pursue self-reliance in warship construction.
