ABBOTTABAD: The cantonment board authorities (CBA) on Thursday reopened Jinnahabad family park for the public after renovations.

Station commander Brig Ejaz inaugurated the reopening. Built more than two decades ago over two kanals, the park has been in shambles with broken recreational facilities for the last few years.

Despite repeated requests, residents of Jinnahabad Colony failed to attract the attention of the local administration.

However, CBA Executive Officer Omar Farooq ordered the park’s renovation and has installed new recreational rides for children. Grass was planted in the garden and lights around the facility were also replaced.

Farooq said CBA has also decided to deploy guards inside and outside the park to provide security to the families.

According to Farooq, the park is expected to attract over 100 families every day from the surrounding localities. He disclosed that CBA was also carrying out renovation work on the city’s historical Lady Garden Park which expected to be completed within the next few months.
