KARACHI:

The ongoing conflict between the two groups in Lyari has now spread out into the surrounding areas after violent clashes claimed at least two more lives on Wednesday.

The clashes between members of the Baba Ladla and Uzair Baloch groups over the last five days have claimed the lives of around a dozen people, the majority of the victims being bystanders and passersby. "With the passage of time, the gang war has infiltrated into Napier and Pak Colony areas," said an insider. "The reason behind this is the laxity of the law enforcers. They just take position outside the affected areas but never try to enter the affected areas and target the gangsters."

On Wednesday, the surrounding areas of Lyari experienced what its residents had been facing since the beginning of the month. The restive area remained tense due to nonstop gunshots and explosion of rockets, hand grenades and bombs in various localities.

At least three people were killed and four others wounded as gangsters clashed in different areas.
