Snooker: Majid wins seven-frame thriller

Junior champion recovers from deficit to record win.

KARACHI: National Junior Champion Mohammad Majid Ali made an impressive recovery from being 2-0 down to win 4-3 against Khizar Aziz in their match of Jubilee Insurance 39th National Snooker Championship being played at the Karachi Gymkhana.

Majid was given a tough fight by his opponent, however, the youngster prevailed with scores of 29-53, 35-66, 56-40, 71-38, 15-81, 88-13 and 64-18.

Meanwhile, in another nail-biter, Nauman Awan and Mohammad Imran tested each other to the limits, but Awan emerged victorious in the end   of the thriller by winning 34-71, 57-18, 69-68, 54-68, 55-56, 82-46 and 54-10.

Babar Masih thumped Abdul Raziq 4-1, while Mohammad Ishtiaq won in similar style against Khurram Agha.

Sharjeel Mehmood dropped just a single frame against Mohammad Afzal winning 59-12, 62-19, 10-64, 73-42 and 59-41, while explosive cueist Asjad Iqbal thrashed Salman Ahmed Sheikh 4-1.
