LAHORE: The government on Wednesday approached the Lahore High Court for cancellation of cases registered against Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique during General (r) Pervez Musharraf’s government.

The Prosecution Department filed an appeal, saying that Lohari Gate police had registered two cases against the PML-N lawmaker in 2004 under the Anti-Terrorism Act and several other sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The prosecution said the cases were “politically motivated” and no witness had come forward to testify. The court was requested to dismiss the cases against Rafique.
