KARACHI: The residents of Patel Para, Karachi took to the streets and staged a violent protest against the killing of an activist of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat in a “fake Rangers operation”, Express News reported on Wednesday.

According to the protesters, Rangers arrested Tayyab Farman from Patel Para on January 29 when he was asleep at his house. On March 3, Rangers conducted an operation in Surjani Town and claimed to have killed a terror suspect identified as Tayyab Farman, the residents added.

The protesters pelted stones at cars and shops, and burnt tyres. The police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the demonstrators and also blocked the Lasbela-Gurumandir road for traffic.

ASWJ leaders said that the protest will continue until the Rangers officials involved in Farman’s killing are arrested and brought to the book.

Farman’s funeral took place after Zuhr prayers at Lasbela Chowk.
