KARACHI: During the hearing of the Zeeshan killing case, a city court granted the Rangers' officer who killed Zeeshan bail, ordering him to pay an amount of Rs2.5 million as Diyat, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Zeeshan, 30, was shot by a Rangers’ personnel on February 28 when he was engaged in a brawl with his estranged wife Shafia.

Relating his account of the incident, Noor told the court today that he saw 10 to 12 people surrounding Shafia, adding that one of the men was hitting her. Noor stated that it looked like the man was attempting to abduct Shafia.

The Rangers officer said that he aimed his weapon at Zeeshan's leg in an attempt to injure him to save the wife.

The paramilitary force has also maintained that they opened fire with the intent to injure the husband as they suspected that he was trying to kidnap Shafia.

The deceased's wife had also stated that her husband, along with 15 to 16 men, was trying to abduct her.

"They even beat me up and that is when one of the Rangers opened fire,” she had told the police.

@Jalbani Baloch: Husband or no husband..... he didn't have any right to abduct a woman. You take law in your hand, you pay the price.... period.
