After a lapse of 20 months, the Joint Working Group (JWG) of India and Pakistan will hold a meeting in New Delhi today to review confidence building measures (CBMs) on streamlining stalled trade across the Line of Control (LoC).
The Delhi meeting comes in the backdrop of January 25 meeting between Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Indian High Commissioner Dr T C Raghavan, where both sides decided to resume the Joint Working Group meeting.
Trade between the two sides on the LoC was suspended on January 15 following the alleged discovery of narcotics in one of the trucks from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) side.
“The JWG will discuss ways and means to further streamline and improve the modalities regarding trade across the LoC,” said foreign ministry spokesperson Tasnim Aslam.
