Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has once again said the army should step in if the government fails to come up with a clear policy against terrorism.
“If the government cannot announce a straightforward and clear-cut policy against terrorism, then in order to save the state, I would be forced to say that the army should takeover and get rid of the terrorists,” Altaf said while addressing a gathering held to mark the 27th Foundation Day of the party’s labour division on Friday.
The MQM chief expressed immense support for the army and law enforcement agencies, saying an entire institution cannot be blamed for the wrongdoing of a few officers.
On the other hand, Altaf demanded the government arrest the killers of two MQM workers from the Gulbahar sector who were gunned down on Friday. He said other MQM workers, particularly from the party’s labour division, had also been gunned down in the past.
The MQM chief also condemned the death of a man at the hands of Rangers officials in Karachi on Friday.

so the government has'nt failed?
"The government fails to come up with a clear policy against terrorism?" the Pakistani government is America’s worst ally—being home to Osama bin Laden will do that to your reputation—Pakistani goverment has gobbled up billions of dollars in U.S. aid and “reimbursements” for services rendered in the war on terror. And while Pakistan’s powerful military and spy services have often collaborated with their American counterparts on drone strikes and militant arrests, they’ve just as often made mischief, hosting the Taliban and other extremist groups, planting false anti-American stories in the press and undermining the civilian government. “The cancer is in Pakistan,” Obama & the American people strong believe —but they have yet to figure out how to excise it.
@Nikki:
What do you do with the incompetent Al capones of this world, who ge! elrcted on popular themes and then because of their leadership deficit can not formulate a plan for reconciliation. We must ask a straight question, can a military man deal with the problems in a democracy?

While the present administration is employing both brainpower and muscle power to sort out the existential threat to Pakistan Mr. Altaf is sitting safely in London and passing unwanted advice and being judgemental. We all know that you are a uk national but still come back to pakistan and lend a helping hand. Actions sometimes are more important than words!
@Rex Minor:
Cohibiting is not bad in politics but doing nothing by the elected politician is not good for democracy in Pakistan particularly. Year, almost, has been over, but the Sharif govt failed to have clear direction.
It was a mistake to bring back the Sharif in power whose former rule ended in a military take over. Now it is heading in the same direction by cohibiting with the man in khaki; who receive their orders from the Pentagon!

Only in military rule his party can glorify.See the historical record. Why should military clear the mess?You politcians mend your behavior and stop polorization.
Finally something that I can agree with him in.
Zindabad Altaf Hussain!
It is hoped that you shall remain loyal to the Army even when it launches an operation in Karachi.
There is no place for Army or their stooges in Pakistani politics any more,the sooner Altaf Hussain realises this the better it would be for him and MQM. Whatver has to happen,has to go through the civilian hands. Btw I yet have to see him demanding that the UK government arrests Imran Farooque's murderers or that the Pak Govt give access to UK authorities to those two suspects it has in its custody.Whatever happened to justice for all!
This guy has true wisdom and honesty for the country. What is the use of democracy if God forbid country doesn't remain. Army should take all the anti state elements to task as soon as they can in order to save Pakistan.
