Khyber firefight: Three militants killed in Bara clash

Three members of the Lashkar-e-Islam militant group were killed in a clash with paramilitary troops in the Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Friday. Three others, including a commander and two Frontier Corps officials, were also wounded.



An official said that fighters from Mangal Bagh’s Lashkar-e-Islam were passing through the mountainous area of Shalobar in Purdil Abad when they encountered paramilitary soldiers. The militants opened fire at the personnel, injuring two of them, and three LI members were killed in retaliatory fire, the official said. A commander, identified as Abdul Wali, was injured in the firefight.


The official said the militants escaped after the clash, taking the bodies of those killed with them. FC troops subsequently launched a search operation in the area.
