Misconduct: IHC revokes licences of two lawyers
Court orders police to arrest both lawyers.
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday revoked licences of two lawyers for professional misconduct. On Wednesday, advocates Javed Akbar Shah and Saeed Ahmed had heated arguments with IHC judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui. After the altercation, the court had ordered the police to arrest both the lawyers, however, their colleagues threatened the police of dire consequence if they tried to arrest them. The lawyers were not arrested. On Friday, both the lawyers appeared before the court and advocate Saeed repented his conduct and tendered an unconditional apology, but advocate Shah did not apologise to the judge. The court, revoked their licences under the Punjab Bar Council Act, 1973, and sent a reference to the Punjab Bar Council to initiate disciplinary action against them. The court disposed of the case.
