Another bank heist: Robbers escape with Rs3.2 million
Robbers took bank’s surveillance cameras, mobile phones & gun from security before making their escape.
HYDERABAD:
Seven armed robbers looted over Rs3.2 million in cash from a branch of Habib Bank in Latifabad on Friday. No one was injured during the incident, but the robbers took the bank’s surveillance cameras, the staff and customer’s mobile phones and a gun from the security before making their escape. According to the bank manager, five of the seven robbers entered the bank in plain clothes and security guard caps, and looted cash from the counters while two others stood guard outside and tried to break open the cash machine. An investigation committee comprising SP headquarters Umer Tufail and DSP Latifabad Shakil Sarfaraz has been formed. SHO B-Section Hasan Ali Abidi was suspended for failing to prevent the crime. The robbery’s FIR has been registered at the B-Section police station. The last bank robbery in Hyderabad took place in August 2012 where a branch of Soneri Bank, Latifabad was robbed in a similar manner and the robbers escaped with Rs3.3 million in cash. Ironically, the day of the previous robbery also happened to be Friday.
