Strengthening cooperation: Defence ties with China to be cemented

Khawaja Asif says Pakistan supports one China policy on issues of Taiwan, Tibet and Xingiang.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Thursday agreed to further strengthen their defence cooperation after high-level talks held in the Garrison city of Rawalpindi. The agreement to increase defence cooperation was taken during talks between visiting Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanguan and his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Asif. The Chinese defence minister also met Army Chief General Raheel Sharif. “Pakistan supports one China policy on issues of Taiwan, Tibet and Xingiang,” Asif said, according to an official statement. During the meeting at General Headquarters Wanquan and Gen Raheel Sharif discussed regional security and measures to enhance bilateral defence collaboration, the ISPR said.
