FAISALABAD: Gojra police on Thursday arrested 40 people, including a bridegroom and two women dancers, only to be released on bails a while later. Police said the people had been arrested from a wedding ceremony in Gulshan Colony on charge of hiring women dancers and playing loud music. The Gojra station house officer told The Express Tribune that they had raided Muhammad Kashif Butt’s mehndi ceremony, where they found guests dancing at loud music. They were accompanied by dancing girls, he said. The SHO said that the women were performing obscene dances. He said those arrested were produced before a judicial magistrate, who granted them bails.
