Women empowerment: Lawmakers call for gender-responsive ADP
Proposals on political and economic development programmes for women for 2014-2015 were discussed.
PESHAWAR:
Parliamentarians from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly called for a gender-responsive Annual Development Programme (ADP) and Annual Development Budget (ADB) at a workshop facilitated by Pak Women on Wednesday. K-P Assembly Deputy Speaker Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Minister for Health Shaukat Yousafzai along with other parliamentarians, and representatives of the local government and the Directorate of Social Welfare participated. The workshop covered two main subjects; orientation on the process of ADP and ADB formulation at district and provincial levels, and the role of parliamentarians and citizens in development programmes and budgets. Proposals on political and economic development programmes for women by K-P women parliamentarians for 2014-2015 were also discussed. Women parliamentarians demanded the Planning and Development Department needs to consult with said lawmakers for the allocation of women’s political and economic development in the upcoming budget.
